Dr. Ronald Tutrone is the Medical Director of Chesapeake Urology Research Associates.

As head of the research program, Dr. Tutrone is responsible for developing, implementing and conducting clinical trials for the treatment of urological diseases, and ensuring the welfare of patients who participate in clinical trials.

Dr. Tutrone is responsible for all regulatory requirements, guidelines and medical standards to ensure safe and reliable clinical trials, and for ensuring compliance with FDA administrative and clinical trial guidelines.

Dr. Tutrone has built Chesapeake Urology Research Associates into one of the nation’s largest practice-based urologic research programs, with more than 80 active clinical trials.  He has been a principal investigator for more than 150 Phase I, II and III clinical trials and has sponsored several investigator-initiated trials.  As Chairman of the William E Kahlert Urology Endowment he has created a summer research scholar program that encourages college students with an interest in medical research to become familiar with the development of new medical devices and pharmaceuticals.

Dr. Tutrone was honored with the 2014 Greater Baltimore Medical Center 50th Anniversary Physician Titans Of Care award.  He served on the GBMC Hospital Board for 8 years.

He has been voted a “Top Doctor” by Baltimore magazine ten times, and a “Super Doctor” for Urology in the Washington Post Magazine Washington, DC, Northern Virginia and Baltimore.

Dr. Tutrone received his undergraduate degree from Holy Cross College where he graduated phi beta kappa. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Rutgers University Medical School where he was elected to alpha omega alpha honor society.  He did his urology training in Boston at Harvard / Brigham and Women’s Medical Center.  He is certified by the American Board of Urology and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and Certified Principle Investigator.
